A motorist died after a single-vehicle rollover crash that ended in the McDonald’s parking lot near the Interstate 80 interchange Tuesday evening.

The York Police Department and York Fire Department responded to the accident at 7:54 p.m. A press release from the Police Department provided the following information:

Preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle exited the Interstate 80 westbound ramp and continued west across the four lanes of Highway 81 before rolling multiple times.

When police arrived, they found the vehicle overturned in the fast-food restaurant’s parking lot with two people still inside.

A community member helped emergency responders remove the two occupants from the vehicle.

Officers began lifesaving measures on the driver and rendered medical aid to the passenger before they were taken to York General Hospital by the Fire Department.

The Police Department later learned that the driver had died. The identity of the occupants will not be released until the next of kin can be notified.
