The Heartland Jr. High Invite was held on Thursday afternoon and enjoyed ideal conditions. The boys placed 4th overall and the girls 7th with eight total schools participating.
The boys won the gold in the 4×100-meter relay with a time of 51.75, consisting of Jack Goertzen, Micah Haidle, Jagger Regier, and Luke Janzen. Jagger Regier was 1st in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:25.15, and he was 2nd in the shot put with a 38’1″ throw. Micah Haidle was 2nd in the high jump, going 4’10”. Luke Janzen was 2nd in the 100-meter run with a time of 13.16.
The girls’ 4×400 meter relay team placed 3rd with a time of 5:21.89 (Jada Quiring, Maylie Friesen, Keely Burgess, and Avery Hiebner). Keely Burgess placed 4th in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:12.34, Maylie Friesen placed 4th in the 800-meter run at 2:55.44, and Isabelle Buller jumped 4′, placing 4th.
