York County Press Release
YORK COUNTY – York County Commissioner Chairman Randy Obermier has issued a statement regarding last week’s blizzard and subsequent emergency responses:

“I wanted to take a moment to reflect on last week’s events. If you are like me, our lives are returning to normal after the one-day blizzard on the 19th of March. I know not all our rural addresses have been fully restored as of Monday morning, but I am being told they are close to getting everyone restored. The 19th posed many challenges for our utility services, as well as our city and county services. In many circumstances, our back-up systems took over and not much disruption was noticed. In other areas, our lives were greatly disrupted. Weather events like this remind us of the value of being prepared in this great state we live in, especially in the month of March.
“To our emergency workers who braved the weather to answer 911 calls, help stranded motorists and plow roads for utility workers, I’d like to take a moment and publicly thank you. I would also like to thank all other workers who showed no delay in going to work and doing what they could to get life back to normal. In general, the individuals who helped those who needed it, regardless of the reason, you have my utmost admiration.
“Lastly and definitely not the least, to all of you who helped someone out through that snowstorm, not because it was your job, but because it was the right thing to do at the time – you used the means you had to make a difference in someone’s life. I thank you for that.”
