Four Corners Press Release
- Plan out meals before the week starts. Include quick and easy dishes on nights that are extra busy. Invite others to plan meals with you. This can make meal planning more enjoyable and less stressful.
- Get others involved in preparing the meal. Children can mix ingredients, wash produce, or set the table. It’s a great time to teach family members how to cook. Everyone can help clean up.
- Enjoy a variety of foods with your meals. For example, include fruits, vegetables, grains, protein foods, and dairy. Think of the rainbow when you serve your fruits and vegetables. All the colors make a beautiful feast.
- Serve your meals “family style”. This type of dining has all the parts of the meal placed in the center of the table. Everyone gets to serve themselves. Also, this allows kids to be creative with their plates.
- Mealtime is the perfect time to connect with family and friends. Turn off the TV and other electronics to focus on each other. Take turns picking topics. Let the talking begin!
