Bearcats Selected As The Mascot For The H&H Sports Co-op
The official mascot for the newly created H&H sports co-op between Heartland Community Schools and Hampton Public Schools has been selected. The teams competing within the sports co-op will be known as the H&H Bearcats.
A vote of students in grades 7 through 11 was held on the morning of Monday, February 24th. In that voting process, students from both Heartland and Hampton voted at the same time via an electronic voting procedure. In their voting, students selected from 4 finalists.
The four finalists in the student vote were the Aggies, the Bearcats, the Harvesters, and the Herd. The Bearcats accumulated an overwhelming majority of the votes, receiving approximately 67.1% of the votes cast. Harvesters came in second, receiving approximately 14.7% of the votes. Aggies was third, receiving approximately 11.8% of the votes. Herd received approximately 6.5% of the votes.
Now that a mascot has been selected, a few more steps will be taken towards refining and finalizing the logo. No concrete timetable has been established for that process as of yet.
