Heartland Huskie Girls & Boys Fall to High Plains Storm at Home on Tuesday

It was a tough night for both Huskie basketball teams on Tuesday, with the girls losing 15-46 and the boys 43-61. The girls suffered a scoring drought, and their leading scorer, Emersyn Oswald, only had three points. The Storm had two girls in double figures with 13 points each. The Huskies drop to 5-8, and the Storm are 10-4.

GIRLS INDIVIDUAL SCORING VS. HIGH PLAINS: Oswald 3, Buzek 2, Johnson 2, Hiebner 2, Janzen 2, Klein 2, and Splinter 2.

The Huskie boys had a great start to the game and were leading after the first quarter at 14-10, but the Storm came back, scoring five threes in the first half to gain the lead. Both teams were missing key players. Huskie starter Trenton Goertzen and the Storm’s leading scorer Carter Urkoski were both out for the game.

The Huskies again had a great start in the fourth quarter, but their offense stalled out, and they were held to 43 points for the remainder of the game. Brodey Spurling had a career-high 25 points against the Huskies. Wetjen led the Huskies with 11 rebounds, followed by Siebert with 8, Alvarez 7, and Quiring 6. The Huskies fall to 3-10, and High Plains move to 11-3 with their win.
