It was the Heartland Huskie boys who finally got a much-needed win against the visiting Nebraska Christian Eagles on Tuesday night. They won by a score of 69-50. After the girls had a great start, scoring 16 points in the first quarter, poor shooting led to their 47-57 loss to the Eagles.
The girl’s hot start was behind the shooting of Sololuze with six points and Oswald with four, but in the second quarter, Oswald was the lone Huskie to score any points. The Huskies went 8-18 at the free throw line, and the Eagles kept a ten-point lead over the Huskies most of the game. Oswald was the leading scorer for the Huskies with 16 points. Sheridan Falk led the Eagles with a game-high 30 points. The Huskies drop to 5-10, and the Eagles are 13-5.

The Huskie boys had one of their best offensive performances of the year, with four players scoring in double digits. Wetjen led the scoring with 21 points, and the Huskies kept the lead over the Eagles for the entire game. For most of the game, the Huskies were in control but had a bit of a stall in the second quarter when the Eagles scored four straight, getting as close as 23-18. Coach Wetjen called a timeout, and Siebert answered with a layup and free throw, followed by a three-pointer by Quiring.
At the end of the third quarter, the Eagles were still within striking distance when they scored a nearly half-court buzzer-beater to bring the score to 48-42. The Huskies took care of business in the fourth quarter with a flurry of scoring, finishing the game ahead 19 points, their biggest lead of the game. The Eagles were led in scoring by Oliver Herman with 27 points.
The Huskies record improves to 4-11, and the Eagles fall to 4-11.
