Get out and participate in the Heartland FFA Book Walk at Lakeview Park. Enjoy reading along about the adventures of Pirate Pearl and his parrot, Petunia, while enjoying a walk in the park!

The Heartland FFA is hosting a unique Book Walk event around the walking path at Henderson’s Lakeview Park. They have placed storyboards along the path with various activities accompanying the story on each board. It’s a way to encourage families to get outside and read, according to Heartland FFA sponsor Stephanie Miller.

The Book Walk is currently up and running and will be held until Dec. 2nd. To take a look at this encouraging event, start at the Lakeview Park pavilion and follow the walking path to view the 30 storyboards. The book featured is “Potatoes for Pirate Pearl” by Jennifer Concepcion. It’s colorfully illustrated and a great read for young and old alike while walking around the lake.

Each storyboard has some fun activities before proceeding to the next page, such as hopscotch, high fives, and more!
