Heartland 5th graders celebrated their graduation from the DARE program Tuesday night. Captain Gillespie shared what was taught during his ten lessons with the class. Each student also shared an excerpt from their report titled “The Most Important Things I Learned in DARE.”

The students focused on topics such as making good choices using the DARE decision-making model, the effects drugs and alcohol have on the body, handling stress, and naming their help network. Twenty-six students graduated in front of family, friends, school personnel, and members of the Henderson and York County police forces.

Thank you to Captain Josh Gillespie and the York County Sheriff’s Office for supporting such an amazing program!
