It was a perfect night for football with cooler temperatures and the Heartland field in tip-top shape, but not for the Huskies. Friday night at home, they suffered a shut-out against the Sutton Mustangs, losing 64-0. The Huskies had beaten the Mustangs the past two years, but the Mustangs were in charge this year.

The Huskies hung tough with the Mustangs and were only down by eight points in the first quarter. Carter Siebert recovered a Mustang fumble, and later, the Huskies had a long, sustained drive, making it to the 14-yard line, but they could not score. They did hold the Mustangs three times on their two-point conversion attempts in the first half.

They fell behind 42-0 at the half and allowed the Mustangs to score 22 more points in the second half. Seniors Samuel Quiring led the team with 11 tackles, Carter Siebert with 10, and Nevada Gloystein had 9.

TEAM & INDIVIDUAL STATS:

HEARTLAND: Rushing – 3 yards; Passing – 70 yards; Carries – Luis Alvarez – 14

SUTTON: Rushing – 377 yards; Passing – 82 yards; Carries – Harrison Hernadez – 12

The Huskies will host Twin River next Friday, September 13.
