Henderson Health Care Press Release

Henderson Health Care provider, Allison Bauer, PA-C, recently completed the prestigious Rural Physician Leadership Academy facilitated by the Heartland Health Alliance.  Allison was the only Advanced Practice Provider accepted into the inaugural program, which consisted of interactive sessions from August 2023 through May 2024 by the University of Nebraska College of Business Administration Executive Leadership faculty.

Bauer was recommended to the program by Cheryl Brown, HHC Chief Executive Officer. “The HHA was looking for rural providers who aspire to develop their leadership and have a strong influence in the future of rural health care. I had no doubt she would be the perfect fit for the academy as she is one of the best and brightest minds in rural healthcare.”

The Heartland Health Alliance (HHA) works in partnership with the UNL College of Business Administration to provide the 9-month program to educate rural practitioners with leadership skills needed to face the unique challenges of practicing healthcare in rural settings.

Allison has displayed her servant leadership for many years on the board for the Nebraska Academy of Physician Assistants. “I hope that I can continue to use the Leadership Academy education to continue to provide the best possible care at Henderson Health Care. Healthcare is an ever-changing landscape and to be able to handle that change with the leadership framework can help us function more effectively and efficiently.  I hope this education helps me to support our staff and fellow providers in continuing to serve our surrounding communities with excellent, compassionate care.”

RPLA consisted of three components: live, experiential leadership-focused coursework, practical application of an innovation-focused group project, and individual leadership skills coaching. With a total of eight sessions on the UNL campus, the program culminated with project presentations and a graduation ceremony on May 17, 2024.
