Henderson, NE – June 12, 2024 – The Henderson Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce a special Heritage Cooking Class that will take place on July 13 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Bethesda Mennonite Church Kitchen. This event aims to bring community members together to celebrate and learn about the traditional foods that have been a staple of the area and its settlers.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn how to make classic Henderson favorites such as Apple Preischka, Verenike, and New Year’s Cookies. These recipes, cherished for generations, reflect the rich culinary heritage of Henderson and its community.
Here’s one of the ethnic specialties that participants will learn how to make – New Year’s Cookies!
“This cooking class is not just about food; it’s about preserving and sharing our cultural heritage,” said Kaelea Saulsberry, Executive Director of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce. “We are thrilled to offer this hands-on experience where community members can learn, cook, and connect over beloved local recipes.”
The Heritage Cooking Class will be held at the well-equipped kitchen of Bethesda Mennonite Church, providing an ideal setting for this interactive culinary event. The class is open to all, from seasoned cooks to those new to the kitchen, making it a perfect family-friendly activity.
