Lamar Gloystein, who received his award at the State Capitol, is with his parents, Jeff and Lacey.

Heartland fifth-grader Lamar Gloystein was a top-10 finalist in the Nebraska American Mothers “What My Mother Means to Me” essay contest. This nonprofit group educates, inspires, and recognizes mothers through programs such as this essay contest.

He traveled to the Nebraska Capitol on March 5 to be recognized along with the other finalists. His parents, Jeff and Lacey, and his teacher, Tara Maltsberger, were also in attendance. He was one of only ten chosen statewide for the contest.

Lamar read his essay to the group, and the focus was about all of the wonderful things his mother does for him.
