Heartland Boys Basketball Team Posts Their Third Win in a Row Downing Deshler

The Heartland Huskie boys and girls traveled to Deshler on Tuesday, December 12 with the girls losing 32-52 and the boys winning 47-41.

Heartland Huskie GIRLS Stats & Recap:

The Huskie Ladies just couldn’t generate enough offense against the Dragons who scored in double digits every quarter. It wasn’t until the fourth quarter that the Huskies made some shots scoring 10 points. They are 2-4 for the season and will have a busy weekend at home playing Thayer-Central on Friday evening and McCool Junction on Saturday afternoon.

Heartland Huskie BOYS Stats & Recap:

This was the boy’s third win in a row, with an impressive second half of scoring against the Dragons. They were behind by 14 points going into halftime, but they outscored the Dragons in the third and fourth quarters when Deshler only scored five in the 3rd quarter and seven in the fourth.

The Huskies tied up the game with 5:05 to go at 34-34 and tied it up again at 41-41 with 2:45 to go in the fourth quarter behind Luis Alvarez’s timely three-pointer. Alvarez got hot and followed with two more field goals giving the Huskies their first lead of the game at 43-41. The Huskies hung on for the win behind a layup by Thane Wetjen and a few free throws to win 47-41.

With this win the Huskies are 3-3 and will face off against Thayer-Central on Friday and McCool Junction on Saturday at home.
