This past week marked the start of our summer intern at Heartland Beat, Brandi Clement. Growing up in York means Brandi is no stranger to the area. She has also dated Mark Perez Jr. for the past few years and has spent much time around Henderson. Her familiarity with the area and being in the process of obtaining an English degree was the perfect mix for her to join us this summer to be able to supply the community with even more stories and photos.
Brandi graduated from York High School in 2016 and has since been working on her English degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with minors in Education and Communications. At college, she is also a Campus Host (tour guide) and serves on the leadership team for the group. Another way she is involved is by being a Social Media Brand Ambassador for the University. Brandi also enjoys being on the Reformed University Fellowship Leadership Team and serving in that campus ministry. All of her hard work will culminate to her graduation in December of this year.
Along with her educational pursuits and extracurricular involvement, Brandi began a photography business a year ago. She has photographed mostly seniors and couples and enjoys the creative outlet. This summer she will also be capturing many special moments around our little community.
As Brandi partners with us over the next few months, she is looking forward to gaining experience in the journalism field and getting to know more people in Henderson. She is currently looking toward career options in journalism or working in the Office of Admissions at UNL. When you see her around town this summer, be sure to introduce yourself!
