The Heartland Huskies, doing all they could to have a successful season under Coach Sarah Ostmeyer, fell short during the second night of subdistricts in Geneva to Meridian. However, the team did not go without setting some records. On the same night the Lady Huskies gave Ostmeyer her 100th victory in six seasons, setter Rhianna Wilhelm picked up her 2000th assist! She has been a pivotal player who has a bright future ahead of her. Her Huskie teammates, family, and friends want to congratulate her on this momentous accomplishment and thank her for all of her hard work and dedication to the sport.
Additionally, the team set the school ace serve record (previously 196) with 244. Contributing to this record was: Rhianna Wilhelm–71, Kalea Wetjen–49, Olivia Casper–43, Allison Kroeker–29, Cassidy Siebert–26, Gabrielle Siebert–23, Kaelyn Buller–2, and Timberly Carr–1. The team ended with a winning 16-12 season.
Coach Sarah Ostmeyer commented, “This group of girls worked hard to make continuous improvements throughout the season. We had a well-rounded team with four girls with 100+ kills, six girls with 100+ digs, and multiple all-around players. Although the season ended earlier than we hoped for, I was always impressed with the way these girls came together to face adversity, playing through injuries and illness. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of girls to spend the past few months with and am proud of the accomplishments they have earned this season.”
