This month, Leslie Braun has been selected as the Heartland Beat Student of the Month by Heartland business teacher Kristy Most. “Leslie Braun is a very worthy nomination for student of the month and has a work ethic that has won her many awards in FBLA this year,†said Most. Braun was just chosen as next year’s FBLA president in which she has been very involved since her freshman year.
“She is very dedicated to the FBLA organization and is a great leader who inspires our members to get involved in FBLA,†said Mrs. Most. Her dedication is evident by her success in qualifying for nationals the past three years. Most recently, at the FBLA State Leadership Conference in April, she placed in four out of the five events she competed in. “Leslie will be competing at the National Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, this summer in Business Law against the brightest students in the U.S.†said Most.
Braun really enjoys getting to go to all the different places for FBLA competition and credits Mrs. Most for “being a great teacher who really helps us do so well.â€Â But what she really likes about FBLA is that what she learns can be used in “the real world.â€Â
Braun is also a three sport student-athlete participating in volleyball, basketball, and track. Her summers are very busy balancing working as a lifeguard at the Henderson pool, sports camps, and volunteering at the Heritage Park. This summer she will be playing on a select girls basketball team from Hastings that competes in several tournaments in Kansas and Omaha.
Her favorite class this year has been drafting. She has an interest in possibly studying to be an architect, and the drafting class has given her a better idea about whether she wants to pursue that area of study in college. Congratulations to Leslie for being nominated as the May Heartland Beat Student of the Month!  Â
