The Henderson Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce that The Revival Band will be performing on Friday, July 10, at 7:00 p.m. in the Downtown Park following the Chamber BBQ at Community Days.
The members of the group have many years experience in the music business playing anything from gospel to country to rock & roll. Tom Schroeder, who started the Revival band, was just doing it to help out a dance club who wanted Rock & Roll for one night. So the group pooled together and played the gig without a name. They figured it was a one time performance and were surprised that other people wanted them to play for special occasions. One thing led to another and after several years the group The Revival Band started regularly doing dances and shows. Some of the places they have performed are the Grand Theater in Grand Island; Minden Opera House; Merrick County Fairgrounds; York County Fair Fourth of July; Wood River High School; the Broken Arrow in Fullerton; The Brown Theater, Concordia, KS; 3 years in a row at Kearney Cruise Night, Ord Car show and state Veterans of America.
The members are:
- Tom Schroeder from Dannebrog on Bass & Vocals
- Warren Pennell from Grand Island on Drums & Vocals
- Doris Winkler from Grand Island on Guitar, Harmonica & Vocals
- Thomas Backus from St. Paul on Lead Guitar, Key Board & Vocals
The members grew up in the era of the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s music, which was their first love and have found that there are a lot of people who want go back in time and be young again. They play music from Elvis to the Moody Blues to Dire Straights so there should be music for everyone to enjoy.
Don’t miss this free concert in the downtown park on Friday, July 10, at 7:00 pm during Henderson Community Days. This concert is sponsored by Mainstay Communications.              Â
