The combined talents and efforts of hundreds of people, all for the same cause, definitely paid off at the 2013 Nebraska MCC Sale where $217,544.06 was raised to support the programs of the Mennonite Central Committee.  This year’s sale, which took place this past weekend, April 5 and 6, marked the 34th year of the annual event.

The sale was held at the fairgrounds in Aurora.  Two separate auctions took place where hundreds of donated and handmade items were sold to the highest bidder.  Those who came to the sale could enjoy a variety of food available to eat there and also to take home. Attendees could purchase fair-trade coffee and chocolate, buy plants for the spring, find beautiful handmade jewelry at the Ten Thousand Villages booth, or get a MCC Sale shirt.

Children were also welcomed at the “Kids Corner” where there was a building with games for kids and items for them to purchase.  A special story-time also took place for the children to have the opportunity to hear from a storyteller.

The successful weekend combined great food, good company, and a substantial amount of money raised for those in need!
