The combined talents and efforts of hundreds of people, all for the same cause, definitely paid off at the 2013 Nebraska MCC Sale where $217,544.06 was raised to support the programs of the Mennonite Central Committee. Â This year’s sale, which took place this past weekend, April 5 and 6, marked the 34th year of the annual event.
The sale was held at the fairgrounds in Aurora. Â Two separate auctions took place where hundreds of donated and handmade items were sold to the highest bidder. Â Those who came to the sale could enjoy a variety of food available to eat there and also to take home. Attendees could purchase fair-trade coffee and chocolate, buy plants for the spring, find beautiful handmade jewelry at the Ten Thousand Villages booth, or get a MCC Sale shirt.
Children were also welcomed at the “Kids Corner” where there was a building with games for kids and items for them to purchase.  A special story-time also took place for the children to have the opportunity to hear from a storyteller.
The successful weekend combined great food, good company, and a substantial amount of money raised for those in need!
