Henderson’s Mennonite Heritage Park will be featured in a new episode of “Nebraska Stories” on NET Television. Behind the scenes of this production was somebody very familiar with Henderson, Garrett Kliewer. Garrett grew up in Henderson, graduated from Heartland in 2008, and then went on to attend college at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Garrett interned with NET Television from September 2011 through December 2012. Through this internship, he produced and directed the Henderson segment of “Nebraska Stories” which will air soon. Garrett graduated with a Bachelor of Journalism in Broadcasting degree this past December. Below is information about the episode that Heritage Park will be featured in.
“Nebraska Stories,†NET Television’s video journal about the people, places and history that make Nebraska unique, looks at an up-and-coming composer, examines the efforts to maintain a small Nebraska community’s history and follows Omaha artist Jun Kaneko’s creative designs for Mozart’s “The Magic Flute.†These stories are featured in the new “Nebraska Stories†episode airing Friday, Feb. 15, at 7:00 p.m. CT on NET1 and NET-HD.

Marge and Harvey Smith are volunteers at the Henderson Mennonite Heritage Park, which preserves the buildings and artifacts of a community founded by Mennonite immigrants in the 1880s. This is a story about a couple working against time to save the town’s history — a history based on religious freedom.
