It was a thriller from the get-go as the Heartland Huskies took on the C-2 #3 ranked (Lincoln Journal Star) Thayer Central Titans.  The Huskies fought hard, but ran out of steam and lost to the Titans in five sets (scores below).

Both teams were fired up out of the block and it was the Huskies who prevailed in the first set.  Heartland looked like a fire had been lit as the seniors were taking the leadership role and two talented freshman in Haley Huebert and Eve Vanderneck were seeing some court time.

The sets then went back and forth as the Titans took the second set, Huskies snagged the third and the Titans, again, grabbed the fourth.  As the fifth set came around, both teams were showing signs of fatigue.  The Titans, however, snagged the early momentum.  Heartland could not get the first serve to go in and a quick kill for Thayer Central gave them control and they never let go.  They ended up taking the last set and the game.

It was a hard loss to take, but the Huskies showed a bit of what is to come for the season.  They will be back in action Tuesday September 11th as they host the Fillmore Central Panthers.
