We would like to thank Kim Hale at Dow Agrosciences – Mycogen Seeds in York for informing us about this great program that they are working on with the Habitat for Humanity.  Please read the letter below and if you or someone you know may be interested in applying you can click here to download the application.
Dear Homeowner,
Your local Grand Island Habitat for Humanity affiliate has begun a new program called A Brush with Kindness (ABWK). This is a home preservation program that offers services to low-income homeowners who need help maintaining the exteriors of their home. Some services that may be offered include removal of yard debris, landscaping, weather stripping, sidewalk repair, clean-up or other minor exterior repairs. Additional repairs or services than these listed may be offered. With a $15,000 donation from Dow AgroSciences through The Dow Chemical Company Foundation (Mycogen Seeds), this program is being offered in York County.
To qualify for this program, you must own the home you live in, meet low-income guidelines, be willing to partner with Habitat and complete sweat equity hours if able, and also have the ability to pay a no-interest, no-profit loan for the cost of the repairs. Those payments then go into a fund to help us complete more repairs for more families.
We are looking for projects in your community! If your home is in need of exterior maintenance or basic repairs, please call Todd Hellerich 402-366-9213 or Kim Hale 402-363-7723 for more information or to make arrangements to pick up an application. You will work with Habitat representatives from your local area throughout the application process.
