The Heartland Huskies 7th and 8th grade football field will take the field for the first time this season on Monday, September 12th, at Osceola. “We have had a great few weeks of practices,” coach Lee Smith reports. “The boys have come to practice ready to work and improve each and every day.” The 2011 team consists of 11 players. In the backfield, Dillon Scheil, Austin Stuhr, Ben Driewer, and Spencer Prentice will all see action. On the line, Clay Bergen, Matthew Buller, Jason Burhoop, Owen Wurst, Andrew Fhuere, Ethan Hall and Ryan Mierau have all looked good and will all contribute. “I am very pleased with the progress these boys have made so far and look forward to seeing how much we can continue to improve,” said Coach Smith. The team is coached on defense by new coach Justin Sand. The game at Osceola will be played at 4:30.
The junior high volleyball team also begins their season opener tomorrow. They play Sandy Creek at Heartland at 4:00.
