The Nebraska State Track & Field Meet at Burke Stadium in Omaha had a packed house for the Class C & D events on Friday and Saturday. Heartland’s Luis Alvarez lines up for the start of the 4 x 100 relay on Saturday.
For the remaining running events at Burke Stadium on Saturday, it was a cool and cloudy day. Rain fell off and on, and the wind kicked up later in the afternoon, but the Heartland qualifiers managed a few PR’s. Sophomore Tara Buzek placed 10th in the 800 M run with a PR time of 2:22.50. The boys’ 4 x 100 relay placed 11th with a time of 44.41. The boys’ 4 x 400 relay improved their time to 3:31.30, placing 9th, just one place from receiving a medal.
The Heartland boys’ team scored four points at the State Championships overall. (On Friday, Carter Siebert & Sam Quiring medaled in the high jump.)
