Henderson Health Care Press Release

Henderson Health Care is proud to announce that Dr. Lindsey Nelson, DO, has been awarded the distinguished Degree of Fellow by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). This honor recognizes her outstanding contributions to family medicine, professional development, and commitment to delivering compassionate, comprehensive care.

The AAFP’s Degree of Fellow is a mark of distinction that acknowledges family physicians who have demonstrated exemplary service to their patients, their communities, and the advancement of family medicine. It reflects years of dedication, leadership, continuing medical education, and community engagement.

“Achieving Fellow status is a meaningful milestone in my career,” said Dr. Nelson. “It represents my deep commitment to lifelong learning, excellence in patient care, and the values that make family medicine such a rewarding and impactful field.”

Dr. Nelson was one of four Nebraska physicians honored at a ceremony in Omaha, Nebraska on March 14, 2025.

After being a member of the AAFP for at least 6 years, family physicians are then eligible to apply for the Degree of Fellow. The application requirements include experiences and activities in the following areas: Life-Long Learning, Practice Quality and Improvement, Volunteer Teaching, Public Service, Publishing and Research, and Service to Specialty. The academy reviews each application and then selects those physicians who have met those requirements to receive the Degree of Fellow.

The AAFP represents 130,000 physicians and medical students nationwide and awards the Degree of Fellow to recognize those who go above and beyond in their professional and personal commitment to family medicine.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Lindsey Nelson, DO, on this significant achievement!
