Sophomore Tara Buzek came home with the gold, winning the 1600-meter run, posting a time of 5:37.97!
It wasn’t the most ideal day for track at the 2025 Central Nebraska Championship Track Meet in Grand Island on Monday, with gusty winds. Heartland had 12 athletes who qualified for this meet and competed in several events.

800 Meter Run: 10th place – Tara Buzek – 2:34.84
1600 Meter Run: 4th place – Trenton Goertzen – 4:48.50
1600 Meter Run: 1st place – Tara Buzek – 5:37.97; 10th place – Madalyn Janzen – 5:58.19
4 x 100 M Relay: 5th place – Luis Alvarez, Thane Wetjen, Brady Goertzen, Samuel Friesen – 44.15
