York County Press Release
YORK – After several years of public hearings and long conversations, the York County Commissioners are expected to take a vote on proposed zoning regulations when they meet in regular session next Tuesday, April 1.
It appears the biggest disagreement between the board members is in regard to setbacks – how far away solar fields would be allowed to be from neighboring homes and farms. Some say the proposed setbacks for large commercial solar fields, as proposed, are too much and some say they are on board with those distances.
More conversations will be held, with action included in the agenda item.
Also on Tuesday’s agenda:
- The commissioners will meet with York County Assessor Kurt Bulgrin regarding permissive exemption applications.
- The board will be considering giving the chairman authorization to sign off on emergency declarations pertaining to the March 19 blizzard.
- An executive session was held last week to discuss support for broadband projects – the board members are scheduled to take action on letters of support for certain contracts as a large broadband expansion effort takes place this year.
- A visitor’s improvement grant application will be presented, as funds are being sought for new lighting in the city auditorium in York.
- The commissioners will discuss a Crime Commission grant as well.
The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, which will begin at 8:30 a.m., in the commissioners’ meeting room, which is located next to the clerk’s office on the main floor of the courthouse.
