Countryside Bible Church is in the middle of an expansion project that will add four classrooms and a large, high-ceilinged youth activity room. The two additions, one to the front and one in the back, total 9200 square feet. They broke ground last fall, and according to head pastor Rick Goertzen, the completion is projected to be by Memorial Day. Countryside Bible Church is located at the Hampton exit just south of I-80.

Pastor Rick Goertzen, who moved from Kansas with his wife last October, took over after the project was initiated. He replaced Countryside’s longtime pastor, Rodney Goertzen, who is his father. Rodney Goertzen still serves as an associate pastor at the church, leading Bible studies and teaching.

Countryside’s attendance averages around 200 each Sunday, and Goertzen pointed out that both additions will only “just meet our needs for now.” Currently, their youth group is meeting in Hampton at the auditorium because there isn’t enough room at the church.

Four classrooms are being finished in the front addition, and the large activity room is on the back of the existing building.
