How York County Voted Regarding Initiative, Referendum Measures

YORK COUNTY – Nebraskans voted on a number of initiative measures and one referendum measure during this week’s General Election. Here’s a look at how York County voters cast their ballots regarding these:

  • Initiative Measure 434 (to limit abortion after first trimester): for, 4,655; against, 2,190
  • Referendum Measure 435 (to retain or repeal Section 1 of LB 1402, enacted by the legislature in 2024, which provides for $10 million annually to fund education scholarships to pay all or part of the cost to educate eligible students attending nongovernmental, privately operated elementary and secondary schools in Nebraska): retain, 3,230; repeal, 3,336
  • Initiative Measure 436 (to require businesses to offer earned sick leave): for, 4,089; against, 2,395
  • Initiative Measure 437 (to allow for possession of up to five ounces of marijuana as prescribed by a doctor): for, 3,694 against, 2,820
  • Initiative Measure 438 (to regulate medical marijuana): for 3,412; against, 3,045
  • Initiative Measure 439 (second abortion-related measure without restrictions found in 434): for 2,278; against, 4,574
