Junior Mia Hiebner came home with the championship gold medal at the C-1 Girls District Golf Meet on Monday

On Monday, the Heartland girls’ golf team competed at the C-1 District golf tournament at Hidden Valley Golf Course in Lincoln. Junior Mia Hiebner came home with the gold-winning first place, scoring an 85 (44-41). She edged out Rayne Biltoft from Superior by one stroke to win first place. Hiebner will head to the Class C State meet at Lake Maloney Golf Course in North Platte next Monday and Tuesday.

“Mia had a great day at districts. With extremely dry course conditions and challenging greens, she was able to put together a very good score,” said Coach Chad Buzek.

Last year, Hiebner was runner-up, shooting a sizzling 80 at the C-1 District Golf tournament at Hidden Valley. She is no stranger to this course and its challenges since she competed there and qualified for State in both her freshman and sophomore seasons.

Other Heartland golfers who competed at Districts but did not qualify for State were Tara Buzek, who shot a 113 for 24th place, and Emersyn Oswald, who had a 123. With only three golfers on the Heartland team, they did not qualify for a team score.

“We had 11 meets this season and Mia placed first in eight of them. I look forward to her finishing strong at State next week,” said Coach Buzek.

Congratulations to Mia Hiebner for an outstanding season!
