York County Press Release
YORK COUNTY – Many people have taken advantage of early voting in York County, according to York County Clerk Mary Melby.
She said the rate of early voting has been very high – with many people coming into the courthouse to vote in-person, before the Nov. 5 election date.
Melby said as of 8:05 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 29, 1,670 registered voters had already cast their ballots in York County.
“I think we are averaging between 100 and 200 a day,” Melby added.
This is a very high rate of early voting, considering the latest figures from the Nebraska Secretary of State’s office (as of Oct. 1) showed 9,342 registered voters in York County. That means 17.82% of all registered voters in York County have already voted.
For those who had ballots sent to them or who have picked them up to take home, they are reminded that they must be returned to the clerk’s office by 8 p.m. on election day to be counted. They can be returned in person, placed in the secured lock box on the west side of the courthouse, or mailed back.
