Last year, this event was shortened to 9 holes instead of 18, and Mia Hiebner placed second with a score of 42. This year, she played 18 holes, posting an 87 (43-44), and placed second again. She lost the scorecard playoff hole to Julie Messere from Grand Island Central Catholic, who scored 87 (43-44). Tara Buzek also competed and shot a 113 (56-57). Eight teams competed with 29 girls: Centura, Doniphan-Trumbull, Grand Island Central Catholic, Grand Island Northwest, Superior, Sutton, and Wood River.
Emersyn Oswald competed in the 9-hole JV tournament, scoring a 71 and placing 4th out of nine girls.
The Heartland team will play at home at Galaway Creek Golf Course next Tuesday, September 3 at 4 p.m. for a varsity dual with Exeter-Milligan-Friend.
