YORK COUNTY – York County Assessor Kurt Bulgrin and the Property Assessment Division of the Nebraska Department of Revenue are reminding property owners how real property valuation change notices will be sent out by the county assessor’s office on June 1.
If there was an increase or decrease from the 2023 assessed valuation of a real property parcel to the 2024 assessed value, the county assessor is required to send a notice of valuation change to the property owner.
This past week, Bulgrin, the York County Commissioners his office was working on notices and would be sending out several thousand.
If a property owner disagrees with the assessed value, whether or not a notice of valuation change has been received, a protest may be filed with the county board of equalization. The valuation protest has to be filed in person or by mail with the county clerk (in the county where the property is located) on or before June 30. For tax year 2024, June 30 is on a Sunday, which allows for protests to be filed in person or postmarked on Monday, July 1, Bulgrin said.
Requirements for filing a protest are on the Notice of Valuation Change. All real property protests are required to be completed using the Property Valuation Protest Form 422 or 422A.
