YORK – Three people were killed in a tragic accident at the Highway 81/Highway 34 East Junction in York Friday night, May 24.
According to the York County Sheriff’s Department, they received multiple reports at 8:30 p.m., of a collision between a semi-truck and a SUV.
“Unfortunately, three occupants in the SUV were pronounced dead at the scene,” said Sgt. Taylor Samek with the YSO. “A fourth occupant of the SUV, along with two occupants in the semi-truck, were transported to York General Hospital for injuries sustained during the collision.”
He said the location of the accident was shut down for several hours so law enforcement could investigate. It has since been reopened.
“We are not releasing the names of the deceased at this time, in an effort for all appropriate friends and family to be notified,” Sgt. Samek said. “This case remains under investigation and additional information will be released at a later date.”
