Press Release: From Four Corners Health Department
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Four Corners Health Department wants you to know about mental health’s big role in our lives. We encourage you to take action toward protecting your mental health and overall well-being.
This year’s theme is “Where to Start: Mental Health in a Changing World”. This reminds us that dealing with life can be a lot. But everyone deserves to feel supported and empowered to seek help when needed. Mental Health America has made a toolkit to help you figure out where to start. The toolkit shares free, helpful resources for managing your mental health. Go to https://www.mhanational.org/mental-health-month to learn more.
One place to start is to practice good coping skills. You can use these tools or habits to help you handle difficult feelings. They can also lower stress or anxiety. These can be as simple as something you enjoy or a way to get your body moving.
Some great ideas are:
- Go for a walk
- Spend time outside
- Go for a swim
- Spend time with friends
- Practice mindfulness
- Laugh
- Do some yoga
- Work in the garden
- Take a bike ride
- Meditate
- Listen to or play some music
- Take a trip
- Meal plan
- Journal
