Heartland knew they would have a tough time taming the Cougars, even on their home court, coming in with their impressive 18 -5 record. But Thane Wetjen came out strong for the Huskies, making a total of three 3-pointers in the first half, and led the Huskies scoring 24 points. Carter Siebert also hit three 3-pointers, and the team dropped in a total of nine 3-pointers for the game.
It was difficult for the Huskies to slow down the powerful Cougar offense, especially Ethan Shaw, who scored a team-high 34 points. He was helped by three other Cougars who scored double digits. The Cougars were also hot shooting the 3-pointer, making nine total.
Team Scoring by Quarters:

Heartland individual scoring: Thane Wetjen – 24, Carter Siebert – 9, Maddox Regier – 7, Sam Quiring – 6, NIck Thieszen – 4, Luis Alvarez – 3, Trenton Goertzen -2, Hudson Regier – 2
The Huskies will head out to Sandy Creek for C2-2 subdistrict action playing Superior on Monday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m.

The Heartland Pep Band, conducted by Mr. Royce Schweitzer, was in fine form Friday night, joined by alumni and community members! They performed a few extra songs after the game as well, recognizing this home pep ban performance as the last one for the retiring Mr. Schweitzer–it was a dandy!
