The girls’ and boys’ Heartland basketball teams hosted Exeter-Milligan/Friend on Thursday, January 25, but both were defeated. The girls lost 38-44, with Emersyn Oswald leading the scoring with 11 points. The girls picked up the pace in the third quarter, capitalizing on the Bobcat’s turnovers, and led the game at 30-29 near the end of the third quarter. They were unable to stay with the Bobcats in the fourth quarter and lost a hard-fought game.
The boys lost 46-65 and could only score in single digits in the first two quarters. The Huskies couldn’t stop the Bobcats from scoring layups, and too many turnovers stymied their offense. Luis Alvarez had a game-high 12 points, hitting four three-pointers for the Huskies.
