It wasn’t pretty for the Heartland Huskie football team this past Friday night. The Sandy Creek Cougars put on quite a show, beating the Huskies on their own home field a whopping 74-16. The combination of Cougar wide receiver Connor Rempe and quarterback Ethan Shaw was too much for the Huskie defense to handle.

By the second quarter, the Huskies were trailing 38-0 until quarterback Hudson Regier connected with Carter Siebert for their first touchdown of the game. With six minutes left in the first half, they converted on the extra points, making the score 38-8.

The Huskies were unable to stop the Cougars, and they were ahead 52-8 with a few minutes left in the half. On the punt return, Louis Alvarez ran 65 yards for a Huskie touchdown, and they made the two extra points with about a few minutes left in the half.

The score was 52-16, but Rempe scored again and converted for the extra two points. At halftime, the Cougars had a commanding lead at 60-16. The Huskies were scoreless in the second half and lost 74-16.

The Sandy Creek Cougars are 7-0, and the Heartland Huskies are 3-4 now. The Huskies will have to shake off this loss and get ready for the visiting Pleasanton Bulldogs (1-6 record) this Friday night for Heartland’s Homecoming game.
