Henderson State Bank will continue to grow as bank officials have announced that a new branch of Henderson State Bank will be opening in the southwest Nebraska community of McCook. The location will operate under the name McCook State Bank, a branch of Henderson State Bank.
“We have been wanting to grow,” said Kevin Postier, who serves as HSB president. “Many other banks grow when they acquire other banks, but we have started four different branches from scratch, and that is the case in McCook also.”
Henderson State Bank presently has two branch offices in York, one in Giltner and one in Greeley, Nebraska. This is in addition to the main bank facility, which is located in Henderson.
“We had an opportunity to hire some key people that were part of the McCook banking community,” said Postier. “Also, McCook is a good regional hub for that part of southwest Nebraska in terms of business and shopping. Conversation on this move started back in March of this year and really ramped up around May.”
“I had a working relationship with Ryan Moore and his father Don from McCook,” said HSB executive vice president J.B. Suddarth. “Ryan will be our branch manager and senior vice president in McCook. We already had a customer base in southwest Nebraska, and this new branch will enhance our ag and commercial business in the area.”
“Many people from the McCook area wrote letters of support to the Nebraska Department of Banking as part of the bank application process,” said Postier. “It’s a lot of work, but at the same time, it’s been exciting too.”
HSB has purchased a building in McCook at 705 N. Highway 83 and is finishing up the remodeling that will transition the location into a bank. The McCook branch will have a soft opening on October 23 and will have an official opening a week later on the 30th.
