Faith Evangelical Bible Church Band leads singing at the Fields of Faith event at Heartland.
Heartland’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) held its annual student-led Fields of Faith event on Wednesday evening, October 11. Normally, the event is held on the football field, but because of the threat of inclement weather, they moved it to the gym.
Fields of Faith is a ministry outreach of FCA. It was designed as an event where students challenge their peers to read their Bible and follow Jesus Christ. It’s also an opportunity for students to take a stand against the temptations and pressures that surround them today, according to FCA.
Over 100 Heartland 6-12th graders attended the event, joining together for worship. Pastor Andrea Wall from Bethesda opened the event with a prayer, and the Faith Evangelical Bible Church worship band led the singing.
Heartland teachers and coaches Tara Maltsberger and Carrie Regier are the FCA sponsors who helped Heartland students organize the event. Maltsberger gave a devotional on trust during the event, and many youths in attendance shared their testimonies, special verses, and about times they’ve had to trust in God.
Another annual FCA event, the 2023 Legacy Dinner, was held on Sunday, October 15, in Grand Island. The event is an opportunity to thank FCA donors, provide updates about the ministry and fundraising opportunities, and hear testimonials from area youth, coaches, and donors.
It was well attended by many from the Henderson area who heard an inspiring speech from the keynote speaker, John Stiegelmeier, recently retired South Dakota State head football coach.
Henderson native Randy Huebert, the FCA East Central Area Representative, was recognized during the program for his tireless efforts to fulfill the FCA mission of leading coaches and athletes into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and his church. Huebert has been very active in expanding the number of Bible study groups with coaches.
Dr. Jim Ohrt and Nora Ohrt from Henderson were recognized as members of the host committee helping organize this worthwhile event. For more information about how you can become involved in FCA, visit the Nebraska FCA website.
