Cody and Ashton (Kroeker) Brown, both Henderson natives, recently moved back from Kansas City.

Cody graduated from Heartland Community Schools in 2012 and Ashton graduated in 2013. Growing up, they enjoyed being in a small town and school. Ashton shared, “We both grew up involved in many activities including several sports. Most of my family also lived in the area, so it was nice being able to grow up and go to school with them.” Cody and Ashton knew they eventually desired to move back to Henderson but weren’t certain if or when it would happen.

“We made the trip back to Henderson so many times for family events, it just made sense for us to move back,” explained Ashton. When Cody received the opportunity to continue working at Garmin as a Software Engineer remotely, they jumped on the chance to live closer to both of their families. In town, Cody works remotely as a Software Engineer for Garmin developing smart watches and dive computers. You can continue reading here about computers. Ashton will be starting a job as a fourth-grade teacher in the fall at Lincoln Elementary School in Grand Island.

“It’s been great being back in a small town and being surrounded by a community we know,” explained Ashton. They have enjoyed being part of local activities such as softball and community days. Cody chimed in about one comforting aspect they returned to describing, “Living in Henderson has always included people waving when they pass you on the street which doesn’t happen much in Kansas City.” Ashton stated that her favorite part is being able to ride her bike around town and seeing familiar faces everywhere I go.

On that note, when you see their familiar faces around, be sure to welcome them back!
