Raise Your Hand 4-H Alumni Activation
In 4-H, we believe in the power of America’s youth to succeed in life; however, only one in three kids says they have the skills they need to handle what life throws their way. That’s why 4-H created “Raise Your Hand.” A nationwide call to action for alumni to “raise their hands” to empower our nation’s youth with the skills to lead for a lifetime. Help us grow the next generation of True Leaders’ because every child deserves the opportunity to succeed.
4H empowers young people to be true leaders. True leaders are young people who have confidence; know how to work well with others; can endure through challenges; and will stick with a job until it gets done. In 4H, we believe true leaders aren’t born – they’re grown.
The 4H program’s hands-on approach gives young people guidance, tools and encouragement, and then puts them in the driver’s seat to make great things happen. Independent research proves the unparalleled impact of the 4H experience.
The Raise Your Hand Campaign will engage 4-H Alumni and rally the nation to provide more youth with hands-on, youth development experiences that are proven to grow life skills, where they can learn by doing, grow from failure, express their ideas and use their influence to drive positive outcomes.
Thecampaign will provide a forum for adults to champion the positive in today’s youth, recognize more youth as true leaders, and support 4-H in providing more opportunities for youth to grow the skills they need to lead.
This spring, Nebraska 4-H is asking alumni to raise their hands! If you’re a 4-H alumni or know someone who is, we’re asking for your help in spreading the word. Together we can help 4-H provide the hands-on learning that empowers kids across America with the skills to handle what life throws at them.
It’s easy:
- Raise Your Hand: Go to www.4-H.org/RaiseYourHand to show your pride as a 4-H alumni.
- Compete for Your State: Raising your hand is a vote towards a $20,000, $10,000 or $5,000 award for the states with the most alumni hands raised. In Nebraska, this award will be used to reach more youth through Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) programs. A person like Google’s Kamau Bobb can help in providing youth with resources, mentorship, and opportunities in STEM.
- Pay it Forward: Tweet, post and share your #4HGrown and #NE4H experience or support and tag fellow alumni asking them to raise their hands for their state at www.4-H.org/RaiseYourHand
