With the end of the school year, the Henderson Chamber of Commerce is busy planning all of the events that will be happening in Henderson this summer. There is a great schedule of events this year to keep children, youth, and adults busy with fun community activities.

The first event to kickoff the summer is the start of the 2016 Henderson Farmers Market Season which takes place on Tuesday evenings from 5-7 p.m. in the downtown park. With a variety of vendors selling produce, jellies, jams, baked goods, and more, there is something for everyone at this weekly event beginning June 7 and continuing until August 30. Each week a meal will also be available during the farmers market. Like “Henderson NE Farmers Market” on Facebook to receive updates about what will be sold at the Farmers Market each week and who will be serving the meal.

We will celebrate super hero style during Henderson Community Days on July 8, 9, and 10. This year’s line up of events will keep you busy both days with a Selfie Scavenger Hunt, Chamber BBQ, and entertainment on Friday evening. Saturday, the fun starts with a Pancake Feed at Heritage Park, the 5K and 10K Jr. Auxiliary Jaunt, Men’s Basketball Tournament, Inflatables, Car Show, Parade, and Fireworks Show on Saturday. On Sunday, the community church service will happen in the downtown park.

Also, don’t forget all of the great activities made possible through Henderson Mennonite Heritage Park including: the Bluestem Writer’s Workshop on June 25, Farmers Valley Cemetery Tour on June 26, Kid’s Camp – Vintage Games on July 13 and Kid’s Camp- Russia to Henderson Journey on July 27. Heritage Park is also open Memorial Day through Labor Day from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday – Saturday. Admission to the park is $5. Admission plus a small snack of cheese, baloney and zwiebach is $8, and admission with a full faspa meal including: cheese, baloney, pickles, zwiebach, and prieshka is $15.

With so many great activities happening this summer, there is a new way to stay informed with what is happening in town.  Subscribe to the HeyHende email list and you will receive a weekly email about news and events happening in Henderson.  You can subscribe by visiting www.HendersonNE.com and clicking on the #HEYHENDE tab at the top of the screen.
