Corn Grower Banquet Planned

I want to remind area corn growers that the York County Corn Growers have their Annual Banquet planned for Thursday November 19th at 6:30 p.m. at Chances R.  Tickets are very reasonable and can be purchased at the Extension Office or from any of the Board of Directors.   Their contact information is available on their website: http://www.yorkcountycorngrowers.com/ or call the Extension office at 402-362-5508.  I hope you’ll be able to attend!  I know that they will again have another great LEAD travel seminar presentation.

Field to Market Assessments to Improve Efficiency

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension will be hosting a series of Field to Market Workshops in the area December 7th to 11th.  The workshops are sponsored by Nebraska Extension, Nebraska Corn Board and Nebraska Soybean Board.  Participating farmers will use a new web based tool called the Fieldprint® Calculator.  Calculating “Fieldprints” can help growers to establish benchmark data on a field and track improvements overtime, set energy saving and efficiency goals and compare performance against local, state and national benchmarks.

The Field Assessment workshops in Nebraska are hands-on and will show growers how to document eight sustainability and efficiency indicators via use of a laptop computer.  They are Land Use, Conservation, Soil Carbon, Irrigation Water Use, Water Quality, Energy Use, Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Water Quality.    Participants will select a representative corn or soybean field for 2015 and complete a data input sheet in advance of the Fieldprint® Calculator workshops.  Meals and workshop materials are sponsored. Computer laptops are provided or bring your own. No prior computer knowledge is necessary, there will be plenty of experienced users to assist all who attend or bring along a helper.

Pre-registration is required by Thursday, December 3, 2015, by contacting a host Extension office.   For information about location or to register go to Field to Market.  Give me a call at 402-326-8185 if you have any questions.

Cornhusker Economics Outlook Meetings Planned

I hope many area producers will plan to attend the York Cornhusker Economics Outlook Meeting planned for Tuesday Nov. 17th 1:00 p.m. at the Holthus Convention Center.

The agenda is packaged into a 3-hour format to provide producers the best available information and send them home to ready to make 2016 management and marketing decisions.  Although there is no cost to participants, pre-registration is encouraged to plan for facilities, refreshments, and materials.

To register for the York session please call 402-362-5508.

The York session will be held Tuesday, November 17, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Holthus Convention Center, 3130 Holen Avenue, York, NE 68467

You can also contact Lubben at 402-472-2235 or blubben2@unl.edu for more information.  It should be a great workshop, so I hope we’ll have a large turnout for this meeting.  Register today!

Over the past couple of years, I’ve share information that our turf specialist have shared via Turf iNfo.  I know that no one likes electronic surveys, but they are essential to help us evaluate our UNL programs and improve our content. Please take this twelve question survey about our Turf iNfo email blogs. It should only take a few minutes but helps us big time!
