The Run Over Hunger Charity Run will soon be happening in Henderson on October 17 at 9:00 am starting at Heartland Community Schools, so here are a few things you need to know about this event.
There are many ways for individuals and families to participate even if you aren’t a runner.
- Participate as a runner or walker in the 5K (3.1 miles) distance
- Participate as a runner or walker in the 1 mile distance
- Make a donation to help families in need in the area. Donate $30+ and receive a “I donut Run†t-shirt and a donut to eat.
- Donate non perishable food items at the event.Â
- Cheer on the participants along the race route Â
“We are excited to be creating this new event for the community and have so many ways for people of all ages to participate,†said Kelsey Bergen, Henderson Chamber Director. “We are teaming up with the Heartland NHS to make this a run that benefits the people in need in the Henderson and Bradshaw communities through the monetary donations and food donations that participants and the community are encouraged to bring to the event.â€
The mile and 5K run routes will start and end at the Heartland Schools circle drive at 9 am and 9:05 am respectively and will strictly be run on pavement. Since this is a charity run, this run will not be timed and we welcome strollers, dogs (as long as they are on leashes), and participants of all ages and athletic abilities.
Runners, walkers and donors can fill out the an online or mail-in registration form by visiting www.HendersonNE.com/Run-Over-Hunger or contacting the Henderson Chamber at (402) 723-4228. The last day to be guaranteed a t-shirt is October 7, so register early.
