Henderson Student Honored among Midland University Elite

mirandaFremont, Neb. – Midland University recently honored outstanding students at the 2015 Honors Banquet. These elite students were recognized for their scholastic and extra-curricular achievements. Among those receiving awards was Miranda Janzen of Henderson, who received the Beulah Meyer Link Award for Outstanding Achievement in Creative Writing and the Outstanding Leader of the Year Award.

“It is a special and esteemed accomplishment to be a Midland Honors Banquet award winner,” said Midland President Jody Horner.“ Each student recognized has displayed dedication, talent, and outstanding individual character.”

In a night accentuating excellence in a wide variety of university offerings, just 36 awards were given out to Midland’s top achievers. Award winners stood out from an especially broad field in 2015, with this year’s enrollment spiking to its highest total in the university’s history. One of the region’s fastest growing colleges, Midland’s student population has more than doubled in the last five years.

Recipients also stand out among an increasingly diverse and competitive pool as the university has made it a priority to maximize opportunities for participation and character development. Within a residential setting dedicated to one-on-one engagement, Midland University students participate in 27 varsity sports, more than 50 clubs and student groups, and over 250 opportunities in the performing arts.
