FullSizeRenderJunior Owen Wurst has been nominated as the Heartland Beat Student of the Month by Heartland’s art teacher, Ms. Renz. “Owen is the Heartland Art Club president this year and has done an excellent job organizing, contacting, and putting in time to help with all art club activities. He has also had great ideas that helped add new activities this year,” said Renz.

It’s no surprise that Wurst is interested in business and wants to pursue it as a major when he attends college. “My dream is to join my father in running his company someday,” said Wurst. He’s spent one summer working as a clerical assistant at his father’s company C-Tec Ag that is located in York. They specialize in grain elevator restoration as well as additional mechanical, engineering, construction, electrical, and waterproofing divisions. Last summer he job shadowed his father as he bid various projects learning first hand what it takes to run a company.

Other extracurricular activities Wurst is involved in are drama, golf, and National Honor Society. “My favorite subject is speech, and I would like to see if Heartland could start a speech club that could compete with other schools,” said Wurst. He has an unusual hobby outside of school—aquariums and marine biology. He has two fresh water tanks and two saltwater tanks housing his wide array of fish. In his marine biology hobby, he often uses deionization techniques to ensure the water quality in his tanks remains ideal for the aquatic life he cares for.

Congratulations to Owen Wurst for being chosen as the Heartland Beat Student of the Month! He is great student leader and role model for Heartland Community School.
