Ella Friesen is a 5th grader in Tara Maltsberger’s class at Heartland. One project they are currently working on in class is researching different states in the U.S. Ella is researching California which is fun for her because she has family from there.

Her favorite subject in school is art. She takes pleasure in it because creating things is exciting for her. When asked what form of art she most enjoys, she said abstract drawing. She can draw on sketch pads and on devices like that all in one drawing tablet.

Ella said she enjoys attending school at Heartland because, “The kids are really nice, and the teachers are fun.” A highlight of the school year for her is the annual classroom Christmas party.

Outside of school, Ella participates in gymnastics and also played volleyball at a summer camp.

Ella was quick to describe that someday she has her sights set on becoming a doctor. While this will keep her busy, she already knows she would like to use her free time to draw.

Congratulations to Ella and all of the elementary students selected!
