Heartland Students Selected for Sing Around NE Honor Choir 2014

The Nebraska Choral Directors Association is proud to sponsor the 2014 Sing Around Nebraska Children’s Honor Choir! This event will be held on November 7 and 8, 2014 at the O’Donnell Auditorium on the campus of the Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebraska. The choir of 150 fifth and sixth grade students are selected from across the state through an audition process.

Selected from Heartland Community Schools are 6th Graders Josh Caldwell and Justin Caldwell – sons of Doug and Jennifer Ott, and Ellyn Hall – daughter of Lynn and Daphne Hall.

They will rehearse with and perform under a guest clinician, Dr. Rollo Dilworth, Professor of Choral Music Education and Chair of Music Education and Music Therapy at Boyer College of Music and Dance at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. Also performing on this concert will be three collegiate choirs from Nebraska.

rolloRollo A. Dilworth is Professor of Choral Music Education and Chair of Music Education and Music Therapy at Boyer College of Music and Dance at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. More than 150 of Dilworth’s choral compositions and arrangements have been published. He has authored 3 books of choral warm up exercises intended for elementary and secondary choral ensembles. Dilworth has conducted 36 all-state choirs at various levels (elementary, middle school, high school), and has conducted 6 regional honor choirs and 4 national honor choirs (ADCA, OAKE and NAfME).  He has appeared as guest conductor for international choral festivals in Canada, England, China, Italy, and Australia.

The concert will take place at 7:00 p.m. at the Nebraska Wesleyan University’s O’Donnell Auditorium. Tickets will be $3.50 and will be available at the door.
