In it’s series of “50 Memorable Husker Moments” the Lincoln Journal Star recently highlighted George Flippin.
Flippin was the first black football player for the Huskers in 1891 after he graduated from Henderson High School. His family had moved to Henderson in 1888 where they set up a clinic and a pharmacy. Flippin went on to become a doctor in Stromsburg. In 1974, he was inducted into the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame.
